Performance and Financial Reporting Accountant

Description:

The Performance and Financial Reporting Accountant is responsible for regular analysis of production volumes & trends, operating expenses, split interests and payout status on properties:
·         Reviewing results vs. estimates/budgets and ensuring appropriate action is taken to understand accounting variances.
·         Partnering with other functional groups both internally and externally with a mindset towards continuous process and data integrity improvements.
·         Interacting effectively with internal staff and government agencies to ensure compliance issues are handled in an effective manner.
·         Provide leadership in creating and maintaining local Financial Policies and Procedures with consideration for Corporate requirements.
Qualifications:

As the ideal candidate, you have a positive, proactive and inquisitive attitude combined with a minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with the following considered an asset:
  • BS degree required, CPA would be considered a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with various tax regimes, including: state sales tax, property tax, income tax and other government compliance, would be considered a plus.
  • Advanced computer skills, especially Access and Excel.
  • Advanced accounting skills and experience, including US GAAP / IFRS and interpreting Financial Accounting Standards.
  • Detail orientation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to learn quickly
  • Previous experience in an analytical and support role. With a preference for interfacing with other functional groups to accomplish tasks.
  • Hands-on experience with the COPAS curriculum and requirements
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry.
 
Additionally, you are a self-starter who works well with minimal supervision in a deadline driven environment and works well under pressure. You should possess strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills and the ability to effectively communicate.
